FINDING A DOCUMENT

If the researcher already has a citation or case title and simply needs to look it up, the process is fairly simple. After clicking on one of the Tabs on the top of the page (such as Paralegal or Westlaw), there will be Short Cuts in the left column, including "Finding by citation" which looks like this:

Simply type in the citation and click on Go.

Westlaw also allows you to search for a party, in case you don't know the entire citation. This shortcut is also found in the left column under "Finding Tools":

After clicking on the "Find a Case by Party Name" link, a search wizard will appear. Simply fill out the forms on the wizard and Westlaw will look for your party. You will need to choose a database (such as Federal Cases or ALLSTATES) and you will need to know the name of at least one party.
